Indian Women Hockey Team is taking part in Women’s Champions Challenge 2011, which will be held in Dublin between June 18th to 26th June 2011. India is in Group B along with Spain, Azerbaijan and hosts Ireland.

Last Time Champions Challenge was won by New Zealand in 2009, where as India Never able to Won Women’s Champions Challenge. Indian Eves was able to won Third Place in 2002 by beating South Africa by 1-0

However actual days and schedule of tournament will be decided after FIH president Leandro Negre had a meeting with with sports minister Ajay Maken and Hockey India (HI) officials.
After Last year’s highly successful World Cup, FIH recently committed six of its major events to India over a four-year period as a part of its campaign to re-energise hockey in the country.

International Hockey Federation (FIH) has taken a postive step by giving entry to Pakistan and South Korea. As per normal rules for this tournament FIH allows only top six ranked teams to play in it. But as India is hosting this Tournament so we get a direct entry for it.

Teams playing in this tournament are:

• Olympic champions Germany
• England
• Netherlands
• Spain
• S. Korea
• India
• Pakistan

However the dates, schedule and host city has to decide yet by International Hockey Federation (FIH). But it is confirmed that tournament will be played between Nov-Dec 2011.
Where as the Women’s Champions Trophy will be played in Dublin between June 18-26 (2012) between the following teams.
