Commonwealth Games 2018 – Wales Defeated India in a thrilling opening encounter

Today was the first day of the Gold Coast 2018 commonwealth games and in women’s Hockey Wales, New Zealand, England and Australia open their accounts with the first win.
Giant killer wales defeated Asian Champion Indian queens by 3-2 in a thrilling encounter. Wales placed in world rank 16 and Indian Women team ranked 10th place but Wales queens were very aggressive and full of energy. The match was interesting, Wales came out firing and led 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Lisa Daley and Sian French.
Indian Women Team looked inactive, Captain Rani admitted :” lacked Energy in first Half and  after the break they were a different side, pressing higher and played more aggressively.”
in the 33rd minute, captain scored a brilliant diving deflection, before Nikki Pradhan levelled the match with 19 minutes to go. But Wales Striker Natasha Marke-Jones scoring the winning goal with three minutes left on the clock to record a memorable win. This is the major victory for Wales.
The women’s hockey event at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games is one of the last major international events before the Hockey Women’s World Cup London 2018. Indian team has to pay more attention in Gold Coast Commonwealth Games to make their presence and position strong in upcoming Women World Cup 2018.
