Jaypee Punjab Warriors Book Place in Semi-Final

With a draw between Jaypee Punjab Warriors and Kalinga Lancers in Chandigarh, the Punjab Warriors has booked their place in the list of semifinalists with total 29 points.
The game was very interesting to see Kalinga Lancers were able to get their first success to make a field goal through Malak Singh taking a lead of 2-0 over Punjab in the very first quarter. After 15 minutes Kalingas got another advantage as second field goal from Quirjin Caspers in the 29th minute which extended their lead to 4-0 in the match at the end of the second quarter.

Jaypee Punjab Warriors Vs Kalinga Lancers in Chandigarh

Punjab Warriors were battling to equalize the score from the start of the 3rd quarter and got success in 35th minute with a field goal from Mathew Ghodes making 2-4 but still in the favor of Kalinga Lancers.
Both teams looked tried hard to get another score but in the 59th minute Jake Whetton finally got the hosts the much needed equalizer field goal making a draw with 4-4. This was the first draw of 4th Coal India Hockey India League.

Hockey India League: Jaypee Punjab Warriors Lose 1-4 to UP Wizards

Uttar Pradesh Wizards climbed to 3^rd position in Hockey India League Season 4 table by defeating Jaypee Punjab Warriors. UP Wizards have collected 23 points so far and become 3^rd in the top teams of HIL 2016 keeping their hopes of playing semifinal alive in Ranchi on 20 February.
In the First quarter Mark Gleghorne from the Jaypee Punjab Warriors made no mistakes in converting the penalty corner giving the visitors an early lead of 1-0 in the match in the 10^th minute. The rest of the quarter saw Uttar Pradesh Wizards trying to equalize but Jaypee Punjab Warriors held on to their lead successfully.

In the second quarter UP Wizards geared up in an attacking mode and got a penalty corner conversion through Argentine Gonazlo to equalize the score 1-1 in 19th minute. Within two minutes of 3rd quarter Gonazl Peillat made no mistakes in converting the penalty corner giving the hosts a much needed lead of 2-1 in the game.
After a series of unsuccessful attempts to score Uttar Pradesh Wizards finally scored again in the 43rd minute through a field goal from Agustin Mazilli, taking a comfortable lead of 4-1 in the game which becomes the winning score in favor of Uttar Pradesh Wizards.

Dabang Mumbai Jumped to Top 4 with win over Delhi Waveriders 8-3

After trailing the score 3-0 in the favor of Delhi Waveriders in first 3 quarters, Dabang Mumbai showed unbelievable performance by delivering back to back 4 field goals to get the final score 8-3 in the favor of Dabang Mumbai.
The team Mumbai was unable to score in first three quarters, but when they came in form it was spectacular performance to see and the audience and fans of Mumbai were really enjoying such energy enriched game. The Audience was filled with energy in the 4th quarter of the game.
First field goal of the game was made by Steven Edwards in the 22nd minute and gave Delhi Waveriders a lead of 2-0 then Rupinder Pal Singh converted a penalty corner in the 39th minute which made Delhi Waveriders to get the lead of 3-0.

Fourth quarter began with the score 3-0 in the favor of Delhi. Dabang Mumbai got a chance to make comeback through Danish Mujtaba’s stick in the 49th minute with a field score raising score to 3-2 but score was still in the favor of Delhi.
Second goal of the day within three minutes came through Nilkanta Sharma, giving a lead of 4-3 over Delhi Daredevils. It was really a critical time and the team needed this kind of lead to be in the competition. In the last minutes Manpreet’s stick showed its magic and scored 2 back to back field goals in 57th and 58th minute respectively. The match ended with the final score 8-3 in the favor of Dabang Mumbai.
The Dabang Mumbai Player Manpreet Singh received the Coal India Goal of the Match award of INR 50,000 and Affan Yousuf from Dabang Mumbai H.C. won the Hero Emerging Player of the Match award of INR 25,000. The Delhi Waveriders player Surendra Kumar walked away with the Most Entertaining Player of the Match award while Rupinder Pal Singh was given the Man of the Match award of INR 50,000.

Ranchi Rays won the match with a score line of 3-2 against Kalinga Lancers

The defending champions Ranchi Rays came on the top of the table by defeating Kalinga Lancers 3-2 at the Kalinga Stadium with total 27 points in the 4th Coal India Hockey India League.
In the first quarter both teams battled hard showing their defensive skills but field goal from Dharamvir Singh took the Kalinga Lancers 2-0 up in the 9^th minute. Ranchi Rays captain Ashley Jackson made an excellent penalty corner conversion to rise the score to 2-1.
The score was unchanged till the half time due to an eye catching performance of both teams. The score board was looking like its freezed at 2-1 in the favor of Kalinga Lancers. The Ranchi Rays tried their best to get a goal in the third quarter but failed to get one. The score was still 2-1 after end of the third quarter.

In the 49^th minute of the game Mohd Amir Khan shot a goal giving Ranchi Rays a lead 3-2 over Kalinga Lancers. Kalingas tried hard to equalize the game by getting penalty corner but failed to score one.
“The Man of the Match’ award of INR 50,000 was given to Mohd. Amir Khan from Ranchi Rays. The Coal India Goal of the Match of INR 50,000 was awarded to Ashley Jackson from Ranchi Rays by Shri Anil Kumar Jha. The ‘Hero Emerging Player of the Match’ award of INR 25,000 was awarded to Matthew Dawson form Kalinga Lancers, while ‘The Most Entertaining Player of the Match’ award went to Moritz Fuerste from Kalinga Lancers.

Jaypee Punjab Warriors’ Win Showed Kalinga Lancers Way Out of the Winning Race in HIL

Kalinga Lancers at their homeland Kalinga Stadium defeated by the visiting team Jaypee Punjab Warriors. The match was really interesting to see as the clash between both the teams was full of energy.
First two quarters were goalless because of the strong defence of both the teams. Lancers made their first penalty corner to register their opening score 1-0 in the 42nd minute of the game. The third quarter ended with the score of 1-0 in the favor of Kalingas.

The Simon Orchard in the 48th minute scored a field goal giving a 2-1 lead to Punjab warriors over the home team. The Lancers tried hard to break the score and get the lead but failed to score any goal.
Satbir Singh from Punjab Warriors shot another goal giving his team a lead of 4-1 in the 58th minute was the final goal of the match. The match ended with a score of 4-1 in the favor of Punjab warriors. Kalinga Lancers with loss of this match were out of the race to win HIL 2016.

Jaypee Punjab Warriors Lost Their Match Against Uttar Pradesh Wizards by 3-0

Sardar Singh in an interview before the match denied the alleged accuses that has raised questions on him in last couple of days and said that his full concentration is on match and he will give his best.
But the Captain Sardar Singh was totally out of form and the team Jaypee Punjab Warriors lost the match against Uttar Pradesh Wizards at their homeland.

The team JPW recently won big against Delhi Waveriders with a score of 5-1 and the credits were fully in the court of Captain Sardar Singh who played brilliant midfield in the match couple of days ago.
After Sardar was not in the form the team was dependent on Australian Mark Knowles to deliver the good performance and lead the team to win. But Mark was also not able to do anything with the score.

Ranchi Rays Defeated Kalinga Lancers 3-2 in Thrilling HIL Tie

Making a hat-trick of wins Ranchi Rays once again proved that they are still champions. The defending cha,pions Ranchi Rays defeated Kalinga Lancers by 3-2 score in a round robin match of the fourth Hockey India League, on Thursday.
As per the new goal scoring system every goal and penalty stroke is counted as two. After a very tough match tied at 0-0 in first two quarters Malak Singh from Kalinga lancers made a goal in the third quarter to give their team a lead of 2-0.

However, even after the end of the third quarter, the visitors still lead 2-1, thanks to some superb save by Andrew Charter. Deavin who turned the match on its head in the 48th minute slot in the on the rebound to make it 3-2.
Kalinga Lancers battled hard but failed to make any resulting attempt in the last minutes. Overall the match was really enjoyable. The crowd in the stadium was filled upto the neck which was due to the step taken by hockey India League to promote hockey amongst the people by making tickets available in free.
With their 3rd win the Ranchi Rays have jumped on the top, they will be facing Jaypee Punjab Warriors in the next match on Saturday while Kalinga Lancers will have to face Dabang Mumbai on Sunday in Mumbai.

Hockey India League: Kalinga Lancers defeat Dabang Mumbai

Kalinga Lancers made a comeback in Hockey India League by defeating Dabang Mumbai on Thursday. Kalinga Lancers had lost their opening match on 18^th January against Uttar Pradesh Wizards.
Both teams scored zero goals till the half time but in the last 30 minutes three goals were made. The game was very entertaining; Dabang Mumbai was able to make 1 goal while Kalinga Lancers made 2 goals.

All the goals were counted as a score of 2 as per the new rule introduced in HIL2016; so the resulting score comes out to be 4-2.
With this win, the Lancers have secured six points from two matches, the same as Jaypee Punjab Warriors, to occupy the top of the table. This was the opening match for the Mumbai side.

The Coal India Hockey India League Announces To Double The Prizes Amount

The Coal India Hockey India League (HIL) player of the tournament in the fourth edition will get Rs. 50 lakhs, a jump of Rs.25 lakhs from the last edition, Hockey India announced on Wednesday.
Hockey India also announced that the “Man of the Match” award will be increased from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 50,000 and will be awarded by the host franchises in each of their home matches. The ‘Goal of the Match’ will see a hike of Rs 25,000 to Rs. 50,000.
Further tournament awards include the “Upcoming Player of the Tournament” award of Rs 20 lakh to the best Under-21 player and the “Maximum Goal Award” also for Rs 20 lakh, a hike of Rs.10 lakhs, to the player who scores the most goals.

Hockey India League 2016 Prizes Doubled

The winning team will take home a whopping Rs. 2.50 crore while the runners-up will walk away with Rs. 1.75 crore. A cash reward of Rs. 75 lakhs will be awarded to the team finishing third in the tournament.
The six franchises battling for supremacy in the richest field hockey league in the world are Jaypee Punjab Warriors, Delhi WaveRiders, Kalinga Lancers, Uttar Pradesh Wizards, Dabang Mumbai and defending champions Ranchi Rays. The tournament will begin on 18^th January.
