Goalkeeper PR Sreejesh is very confident for team India playing outstanding in the podium in Tokyo. The most anticipated Olympic games are about to begin from July 23 this year in Tokyo, Japan.
The 16-membered national team has many new faces, reflecting the preferences of the selecting team to choose youngsters for the games. Sharing the insights from team preparation for the upcoming games, Sreejesh said the two-year preparatory duration due to Covid induced lockdown has made the boys observe closely each aspect. This has been a self-realisation journey.
“We started our preparation two years back after the World Cup in Odisha. Our campaign for the Olympics then began. Maybe by luck or by accident we got an extra year to prepare our best for the games,” said Sreejesh while speaking on AIFF TV.
“Usually we travel a lot and practice in a fair amount of matches. A lot of adjustment has to be done. But this year is different, we are camping in Bengaluru for one and a half years. There is no time to even meet our families,” he added. We are all geared up for the matches.
Team India is placed under Group A along with Japan, Argentina, Spain, New Zealand and Australia. He explained that this time the journey is more of self-realisation than worrying about others.
