Indo -Pak Rivalry set to light up each competition between both teams. The two teams squared off most recently at last year’s Asia Cup in Bangladesh where India claimed the honours.
But in Commonwealth Games 2018 India Men’s hockey team campaign began much same as the women with some disappointing results. India was held to a 2-2 draw by arch-rivals Pakistan in the Men’s Hockey match on Saturday.
Commonwealth India Vs Pakistan Hockey Match was of great interest. In the first two quarters India was in a dominant position by holding two goals at half time. But in the second half, Pakistan Came back into the match and put India under tremendous pressure in the second half and Mohammed Irfan Jr reduced the arrears with a 38th – minute field goal after few seconds PR Sreejesh produced some brilliant saves to keep India’s one-goal lead intact.
with just seconds left there was high drama. with 7 seconds left, Pakistan earning themselves a penalty corner and again benefited in the dying moments with yet another referral. Mubashar Ali scores from the penalty corner for Pakistan, leaving the Indian team shell-shocked and the old fears turned out to be true.
Former India player Viren Rasquinha was also left surprised with the decision. He said “Both the referral decisions were very surprising. To my eyes, I have been trying to watch this as closely, there was no foot. Very, very controversial decisions. I think the video umpire was watching something else.”
The Indians ended up conceding one to let slip what should have been a comfortable win. It was really surprising not only for Men Hockey Team but also for the Hockey Lovers. At the end Match declared draw due to controversial decision,otherwise Indian Team’s victory was confirmed.

Commonwealth Games 2018 – Indian Women Hockey Team Crush Malaysia 4 – 1

Indian women’s hockey team came up with a much improved performance on 2nd day of Commonwealth Games 2018 and crush Malaysia 4 -1. the Asian champions ensured their position back as they scored three goals in the second half to complete the tally. The Rani Rampal side had lost their group stage opener against Wales 2-3 on Thursday and needed full points from their second outing to stay in contention.
The Indians queens began on the front foot with Vandana Kataria bagging their first penalty corner in the very first minute and it looked like the Indians could register a big win, when Gurjit Kaur converted the third with a drag flick.
And it looked like the 2002 CWG gold medallists could once again pay for their profligacy when Nuraini Rashid found the equaliser through a penalty corner in the 38th minute.However, the Malaysians were still in celebration mode but the India launched a quick attack and Gurjit converted yet another penalty corner to restore the team’s advantage.
In the fourth quarter Indian Queens Vandana Kataria, Poonam Rani, Neha Goyal and Lilima Minz changes the side with launching attacks from both flanks. Goyal made a brilliant run from the right to dribble past two defenders and then passed the ball to an unmarked Rampal to tap the ball home in the 56th minute. After three minutes Lalremsiami rounded off the score with a quick one-two with Katariya one minute from time to also improve India’s goal difference.
